YIN WORKSHOP with TIFFANY CANTRELL

Sunday – November 20th 2:15pm – 4:15pm

Join Tiffany for a deeper exploration of yin yoga in a workshop perfect for anyone! From those who have never done yoga or are just not sure about the whole yoga thing, to those who are new to it or who have been practicing for years. Today most forms of yoga are “yang” in nature – they emphasize muscular
movement and contraction. By contrast, yin yoga targets the deep, dense connective tissues of the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Most yin postures are floor-based and all are held for a longer period of time to allow the body to delve deep into its connective tissue.

This type of practice complements the more muscular styles of yoga, allows you to open more with more ease than ever before, and, of course, helps you relax. Within this quiet, more stable, meditative environment, the prana (energy) that moves through the meridian channels (energetic highways) can begin to flow more easily, opening up the entire body.

“The Law of Karma and Reincarnation”

November 19, 2011 7:00 PM

Hosted by Serenity Stream Yoga & Wellness Spa

Serenity Stream Yoga & Wellness Spa is pleased to host a special presentation titled “The Law of Karma and Reincarnation”, the 7th lecture in The Wisdom of Yoga series. Guest lecturer Henry Huta will enlighten and educate participants on the well-studied and much debated topic of karma, reincarnation and the true purpose of life, based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda.

Newton’s Third Law of Motion states that “for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction”. Yoga teaches the same principle in that “you reap what you sow”. What could be more fair? Topics include: Why do we see a world of suffering and inequality? What happens at death, and after death? Yoga offers fascinating answers for life’s great mysteries, but, more importantly, it tells you how to make the most of every day of the life you’ve been given. Understanding these truths can bring clarity, confidence, and
inspiration into your life. Paramhansa Yogananda was one of the most significant spiritual teachers of the twentieth century. His Autobiography of a Yogi, published in 1946 and printed in more than 20 languages, has touched the hearts of millions and remains the best-selling spiritual autobiography of all
time. Yogananda said of this world: “Live in this world as a guest. This world is not your true home. The deed to the house you live in may be written in your name, but whose was it before you acquired it? And whose will it be after you die? It is only a wayside inn, a brief halt on the long journey to your home in God.”

Yoga Nidra with Theresa Clearo

Yoga Nidra with Theresa Clearo

Thursday, November 3, 2011 7:00 PM

Serenity Stream Yoga & Wellness Spa

Yoga Nidra is a highly powerful ancient meditation technique originated from the Tantras. It is the
scientific way to eliminate the root cause of all the negativities.

The Sanskrit word Yoga means ‘union’ or ‘one pointed awareness’ and Nidra means ‘sleep’. In Yoga Nidra, the body, mind and intellect are completely relaxed and one appears to be sleeping but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level, and the subconscious and unconscious realms of mind get opened up. So yoga nidra is ‘dynamic sleep’ or in other words ‘psychic sleep’ in which you learn to relax consciously.

In Yoga Nidra, you not only enjoy the complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation but also get
to explore the tremendous powers hidden in the deeper layers of subconscious and unconscious mind.

In the deep relaxation state of yoga nidra, the mind is in a state between sleep and wakefulness and its receptivity is many times more than its receptivity in wakeful state. The secret is that the subconscious mind is at front in this state while the conscious mind takes the back seat. The subconscious mind is a very obedient disciple and immediately carries out the orders that you put to it. By practicing yoga nidra you can completely train your subconscious mind. Then the ordinary conscious mind and intellect will
follow the suit. The subconscious and the unconscious mind are the most powerful forces in the human being. In yoga nidra you learn how to access these powerful forces to gain knowledge,
cure diseases, increase creativity, and to realize your true self.

Venture down the path of deep, reflective meditation. Allow your mind to be skillfully guided to a place of serenity and introspection.

Theresa’s skillful voice will lead you to the hidden recesses of your subconscious, allowing for personal growth and delicious waves of healing relaxation.

Theresa is a certified Prana Vinyasa Yoga teacher and is registered nationally through the Yoga Alliance, with a 500 hour certification. Theresa encourages students to trust their own inherent wisdom and to explore the joyful liberating aspect of the yogic journey
